About You

With so much going on at the moment my photography has taken a bit of a backseat as of late, which has meant very little time to go out with my camera in any meaningful way. However another concert up in my old home town meant I could at least take my Fujifilm X100V out for some more fun on the tube. After last months revelation, I was keen to try and capture more of the comings and goings during my brief time riding on the underground.

I love getting images of the commuters, blissfully unaware of me taking photos of them as they entertain themselves on their journeys. The X100V is literally perfect for this as it has a silent shutter and unobtrusive size. People literally have no idea I am aiming it at them from only a couple of feet away.

I began to use people in front of me to frame and capture subjects without their knowledge which worked really well when stood up as the carriages became crowded.

I started to become obsessed with capturing an emotion or a feeling from passengers as I travelled around. I would look for people who looked tired or were engrossed in their phones trying to capture a moment of joy or exasperation as they went about their lives.

My favorite image of the trip was a shot of a man staring at a guy with vitiligo , while simultaneously being stared at by another couple of passengers. I just loved this tiny interaction moment that is now forever frozen in time.

Rounding off the month was some Bristol lights taken on a very wet evening. I went to a light show at the Bristol Cathedral which, despite taking lot of images did not yield many I actually liked. It was one of those spectacles that really did look better in person than in photos.

I actually found the best images of the night were taken on my way to the cathedral, walking past some interesting fluorescent store signs that really popped in the wet.

That’s really all she wrote for november, so as the year starts to wind down, I will take a look back at 2022 in my next post, which will showcase some of my favourite images of the year, and boy what a year it has been!
